Rao Bahadur O Sundari: Too classical for Gen Z

Apr 15, 2026

Satya Dev is trying something different with a never-seen-before character in the upcoming film Rao Bahadur. The makers have just released the first single, O Sundari, to kickstart the musical promotions. It is definitely a good attempt by music director Smaran Sai.

He has crafted a pure classic composition, and Vijay Yesudas sang it brilliantly, pouring real emotion into the track. Lyricist Rehman also wrote great, meaningful lyrics that fit the mood perfectly. However, while the overall effort and musical rendition deserve high praise, the song seems a bit too classical for the latest Gen Z audiences taste, who usually lean towards more modern, fast-paced tunes.

Visually, the song stands out thanks to the neat chemistry between the lead pair. Satya Dev carries his stylish vintage look with ease, and Deepa Thomas brings a graceful presence to the screen. Writer and director Venkatesh Maha always shows a penchant to deliver something unique, and his distinct aesthetic is quite visible here.

With presenter Mahesh Babu and producers Chinta Gopalakrishna Reddy, Anurag Reddy, and Sharath Chandra backing the project, the production values are undeniably strong. While O Sundari is a very well-made classical track, its reach among the regular commercial moviegoers will be interesting to observe.
