Rao Bahadur movie starring Satyadev in the lead role, directed by Venkatesh Maha, released today. Presented by Mahesh Babu, the film generated solid expectations with its unique promotional material. Let's discuss about the film in detail.

Plot:
Ramappa (Satyadev), who belongs to a royal family, suffers from advanced liver cancer. Battling a bizarre psychological condition, he lives in a world of illusions inside his room. Defying doctors' predictions, he survives longer due to a haunting suspicion: he doubts if his deceased second son was actually his own. He challenges death to stay alive until he uncovers the truth. Will his suspicion come true? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Director Venkatesh Maha attempts to show how the poison of suspicion can make a person ruthless. Even though the core story is simple—a dying father wanting to know if his son is truly his—the presentation is highly novel. The film feels like a dark fairytale layered with intense psychological drama, which is a rare attempt in Telugu cinema.

The opening scenes brilliantly transport the audience into a new, mysterious world with a royal palace and a protagonist battling bizarre illusions. However, the narration soon dips. The first half moves at a sluggish pace, and the romantic flashback sequences completely fall flat, testing the viewers' patience. Thankfully, the pre-interval block brings back the much-needed intrigue.

Satyadev delivers a stellar performance as Ramappa, effortlessly portraying the complex emotions of a man consumed by illness and doubt. He holds the entire film together with his brilliant acting, breathing life into the eccentric character. The supporting cast, including Deepa Thomas and Vikas Muppala, also provide good support to match the intense mood of the narrative.

On the technical front, the movie offers a rich and classy experience. Karthik Parmar's cinematography effectively captures the eerie and grand atmosphere of the setup. Smaran Sai's background score elevates the psychological tension in crucial scenes. Despite some pacing issues, the production values and unique execution stand out. Overall though the movie has novelistic premise and ambition it feels too indulgent, slow and tests patience at places.

Positives:
Satyadev's stellar performance
Fresh cinematic presentation
Background score and visuals
Production Values

Negatives:
Extremely slow-paced first half
Unengaging flashback scenes
Not an Universal Plot

Bottomline: A good attempt but sluggish narrative and underwhelming plot undermine it.

Rating: 2.5/5
