Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey has started its box office journey much earlier than expected in India. Even with nearly five weeks left for release, the film has reportedly crossed Rs.2 crore in advance bookings, showing the massive anticipation surrounding the project. Advance IMAX bookings opened in India on June 8, more than a month ahead of release.
The response has been particularly strong for premium format screenings with several early shows witnessing fast bookings despite high ticket prices in major cities. Reports indicate that some premium IMAX tickets even touched Rs.3,000–3,300 range and still found buyers quickly.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey is already carrying enormous curiosity after the global success of Oppenheimer. The film is also creating attention for becoming the first feature shot entirely using IMAX film cameras.
What makes this start more impressive is the timing. Hollywood films in India rarely open advance bookings this early and still generate such momentum. Early sales suggest that Nolan’s brand value continues to grow among Indian audiences. With over a month remaining for release, the film has already signalled that it could emerge as one of the biggest Hollywood openings in India if this pace continues.
