Nag Ashwin gives exemplary tribute to Singeetham

Jun 8, 2026 3:07PM

Some collaborations in cinema go beyond credits and become stories of admiration, gratitude and creative trust. That seems to be the case with Singeetham and Nag Ashwin.

Speaking at the Celebration of Sing Geetham event, veteran filmmaker Singeetham turned emotional and said the film’s entire credit should go to Nag Ashwin. While the original idea belonged to him, he openly admitted that bringing it to life would not have been possible without Ashwin’s support and involvement. He chose not to take full ownership of the final outcome, instead celebrating the younger filmmaker’s contribution.

Nag Ashwin, in return, made it clear that he only helped a legend realize yet another innovative vision. He expressed happiness at being able to assist Singeetham and watch him deliver a film that carries his signature imagination.

Their bond did not begin here. Nag Ashwin first approached Singeetham during Mahanati, seeking insights and research related to Savitri’s life. That association grew stronger over time, with Ashwin also taking the legendary director’s suggestions while shaping Kalki 2898 AD.

Now, with Sing Geetham, Nag Ashwin seems to have returned that guidance in the best way possible—not through words, but by standing beside his mentor and helping his idea reach the screen. The movie is releasing on 11th June.
