The controversy surrounding Telangana folk dancers Eshwar Sai and Madhuri Rathod has now moved from social media into a police case. Madhuri has approached the Narsingi police alleging that Eeshwar Sai deceived her by promising marriage and subsequently sexually exploited her. Following her complaint, police have registered a case and Eeshwar Sai is reportedly absconding. Two police teams are said to be searching for him.

According to reports, Madhuri submitted her complaint at Narsingi Police Station on August 22. The case has reportedly been registered under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual intercourse through deceitful means, including a promise of marriage made without the intention of fulfilling it. The provision is classified as a cognizable and non-bailable offence.

The latest development follows a controversy that erupted in August after videos involving the two folk artists went viral. Eshwar Sai’s wife, Saranya, reportedly confronted Eshwar and Madhuri at a room in Vemulawada, triggering a series of social-media videos, interviews and allegations from both sides. Madhuri subsequently approached the Vemulawada police alleging that Saranya assaulted and verbally abused her; police reportedly registered a case based on that complaint as well.

Eshwar Sai had also publicly reacted to the controversy, with reports quoting him as admitting that he had made a mistake and expressing regret over the situation. The latest complaint, however, significantly changes the nature of the controversy. What began as a viral dispute involving two popular folk performers has now become a criminal investigation, with the police looking for Eshwar Sai.
