Vishwak Sen is looking for a huge success at the box office after continuous disappointments. He joined hands with KV Anudeep, who delivered a blockbuster like Jathi Ratnalu. Kayadu Lohar as leading lady joined the Funky gang, promising a comical treat. Let's discuss about the film in detail.

Plot:

Komal (Vishwak Sen) finds a producer (Naresh VK), Manchi Productions, after a long struggle but he overspends on the film from Rs.4 crores to 10 times. So, Chitra (Kayadu Lohar), producer's daughter takes over the production. She asks Komal to finish the film in one crore and he tries to work around her strict rules. But romantic sparks fly between them. Still, Komal's awkwardness to family relations becomes a major problem. Can he overcome this obstacle? Will he finish his movie in budget? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Vishwak Sen is good in the full-on comic role. He understands the comedy style that Anudeep brings to the table and adapted to it. Kayadu Lohar is cute and her character needed a little big more weightage in writing. Naresh VK's scenes are good. Sampath character doesn't deliver all the time but he is funny. Cameos by Dil Raju, Anudeep, Harish Shankar, Kalyan Shankar worked well.

Inside jokes, Meta References, simple narrative without much to ponder over - these are the words we can use for Anudeep's Funky. Each scene is handled as a sequence to yield a funny joke or line. The underlying emotion that Anudeep wants to bring out doesn't really come to the forefront until the final scenes. Hence, few scenes and few screenplay choices feel slightly odd and just for the purpose of a joke.

In Jathi Ratnalu and Prince, Anudeep had a single line screenplay that yielded to these jokes but here that's not the case. Still, he tried to entertain in his typical style throughout. The inside jokes, references to well-known popular filmmakers and the kind of problems that filmmakers have to face in production are handled in a very funny manner by the director.

Sometimes, it feels like a story based on well-known directors and yet the same time not similar to them. Still, the comedy even in bits and pieces works and strong climax would have benefitted the film even more. Production values, cinematography, editing, music all seem slightly below the mark than what we anticipate from the big names involved. Still, makers yielded an Anudeep style entertainer and it works to certain extent.

Positives:

Vishwak Sen Performance
Everyone performed well
Few inside jokes
Dil Raju Cameo
Anudeep style comedy

Negatives:

Very Thin Line
Drags at few places
Few comedy bits don't work
Low Impact

Bottomline:

Anudeep style comical narrative may not sync with all but it would entertain people who like his style.

Rating: 2.5/5
