The teaser of Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan (JIO) has finally arrived and the film is clearly banking on nostalgia. Jiiva and director Rajesh M are coming together again after delivering the blockbuster Siva Manasula Shakti (SMS), a film that still enjoys cult status among comedy lovers. 

But while the makers are positioning JIO as a reunion of that successful combination, there is one obvious change audiences instantly noticed. Santhanam is not part of this outing. Santhanam and Jiiva combination has earned cult classic combo reputation. 

Now, Parithabangal Sudhakar has replaced Santy. From the teaser, Sudhakar and Jiiva seem to share good chemistry and there is an easy-going energy between them. At the same time, comparing them with the Santhanam–Jiiva combination would be cruel because that pairing already carries years of audience affection and recall value. But with the way JIO is being marketed, the comparison is inevitable.

Still, the teaser looks promising and more importantly, it brings Jiiva back into a full-fledged comical role. Rajesh M needs this film to work big time and let's see how it all goes. One thing noticable though while they took a comical dig at CM Vijay they dedicated the teaser to him as it released on his birthday. Yuvan Shankar Raja is back as the composer with Ivana as leading lady.
