Akash, who suddenly rose to promising histrionic heights with his performance in the film 'Anandam', reappears after a long gap in this film – which appears to be made in two versions - Tamil and Telugu. During this gap, he put on some weight. Unfortunately this film too does not hold any hope to place him back in a respectable position. The story line is very weak, for the reason that it is woven in a familiar mould, starting from the hero announced as an orphan.Akash gets the name of Guru for the very reason that he is good at martial arts and can floor anybody in combats. There is enough number of fights to prove his mettle. New face Pranathi plays Renuka Devi, a girl born into a rich family. But unfortunately her father died leaving her and the property in the care of a lawyer (Vijay Kumar). The lawyer plans to usurp the property by getting his son Bharat married to the girl. Unfortunately, by the time the main story opens, that boy is in jail, for an offence he committed. Therefore, Devi is on the look out for a bold and daring young man to tackle the lawyer and his men. She gets across this Guru and narrates her story that is simple and is on the beaten path to project the hero as superpower. He tackles with the lawyer and in a tussle that ensues, he gets killed. His son Bharat comes from jail on parole and performs last rites, while Guru is taken to jail for a three year jail term. Devi takes over the property and then ditches Guru saying he was just a friend. On a Valentine's day, Devi gives a lecture on the importance of the day and says the event renews the contacts between lovers. Guru takes advantage of the situation and reveals to all how she loved and how she dropped him. And then war breaks out between Guru and the lawyer's son. Seated in a car, Devi tries to kill herself. But Guru saves her by giving her mouth-to-mouth breathing. This also renewed their love.

Akash plays well his role but is given paragraphs of dialogue that renders him a loud-mouthed character. Pranathi plays well her role too and proves she is good actress. Nassar and Vijay Kumar get wrong roles considering the intensity of their talent. Most of the artistes are new to Telugu screen. Music and photography make average impact. -
