It's 18 years of Arya today. Allu Arjun's Arya released in theatres on 7th May, 2004. Everyone was stunned because the director was unknown, the actor was rising, and the producer was also unheard of at the time, but surprisingly, this film created a sensation at the box office.

'Arya’ could be said to be the film that introduced actor Allu Arjun to the Malayali audience. At the first glance itself, actor Allu Arjun had a special charm that grabbed the hearts of Malayalis. There was something unique and special about the acting skills of Allu Arjun, who played the titular character ‘Arya’ in the film.

Written and Directed by Sukumar, Arya is a Telugu campus-based romantic drama which featured Arjun in the role of a happy-go-lucky guy madly in love with Geetha, played by Anuradha Mehta. The film has been remade in four Indian languages.

Arya was a runaway success at the box-office. Its sequel titled Arya 2 was released in 2009.
