Updated : Apr 8, 2026

Today, Anna Konidela, wife of Pawan Kalyan, shared a deeply emotional message on social media, marking a day of both celebration and solemn remembrance for her family. While she proudly celebrated the birthday of Akira Nandan - first son of Pawan Kalyan with Renuu Desai, describing him as a kind, curious learner and a deep thinker, the day also served as the one-year anniversary of a horrific fire that nearly claimed the life of her son, Mark Shankar.

For Anna, today feels like Mark's second birthday. She recalled the harrowing experience of sitting by his hospital bed, watching him struggle to breathe with severely damaged lungs. While expressing immense relief that he is safe and recovering, she acknowledged that the shadow of the tragedy remains heavy.

The investigation into the fire is still ongoing, and she mourned the heartbreaking loss of a ten-year-old girl named Freya. The devastating incident left eighteen other children hospitalized, with some still requiring extensive surgeries for deep burns.

In her heartfelt note, Anna expressed profound gratitude to the brave construction workers who acted as heroes, saving fifteen children before firefighters even arrived at the scene. Concluding her message with a strong plea for safety, she urged everyone to keep a fire extinguisher or a fire blanket at home.
