The number of people visiting movie theatres has been significantly decreased since Corona, as is well known. The response was modest, despite the filmmakers' best efforts to draw viewers to the theatres. Additionally, the audience is now more drawn to them as a result of the OTT platforms' boom during the lockdown. OTTs that offer fresh content are becoming more popular. Additionally, the film industry believes that OTT platforms are endangering movie theatres' ability to continue operating. After a movie is released, people stop going to the theatres because they can watch it online for free.
The renowned producer Dil Raju and about 21 other Telugu film producers held discussions with the OTT platform providers in this order. Dil Raju presided over the meeting, according to sources in the industry. An agreement was made in this order to stream the film on OTT 10 weeks after its theatrical release. According to sources in the industry, this regulation will take effect on August 1.
The producers' council is attempting to keep the cost of making movies under control, though. Many producers bemoaned their inability to pay what they demanded because the actors' and directors' salaries were so high. Producers also want a decision to be made in this matter soon. They requested a break in the film's production beginning on August 1 in order to quickly decide on this issue. We must wait to see how the producers council will rule on this matter.
An official press note with the topics which were discussed is likely to come out soon.
