Nagarjuna, who is considered as a master business mind had never worked with VV Vinayak anytime in his career but he requested V V Vinayak to direct Akhil for the debut movie reportedly being produced by actor Nithin.

While the industry is surprised with this decision of Nag's decision, there are also reportedly some reasons for this. VV Vinayak had delivered 30 crore hit for Bellamkonda Srinivas in his debut film.

At the same time, Naga Chaitanya earned class image while VV Vinayak, well known for out and out mass masala flicks can steer Akhil.  VV Vinayak commands highest success rate among the top directors and uses little time efficiently and also finishes the film within a stipulated
budget.
