Updated : Apr 6, 2026

Mrunal Thakur is set to surprise the audience with her complex role as Saraswati in the upcoming film Dacoit. Breaking away from the soft-spoken characters she portrayed in her earlier Telugu outings, she completely transitions into a challenging new genre. While the part was highly difficult, the creative team designed it so well that it became a deeply rewarding and joyful experience for her as an actor.

The project gave her a rare opportunity to fulfill her desire for performing risky action sequences on the big screen. Taking full advantage of the extensive outdoor shoots, she participated in thrilling chase scenes and even drove an ambulance that had no handbrake. Being passionate about driving in real life, she found these high-energy moments to be the most exciting parts of the entire filming process.

Shooting the movie simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi made the journey much more demanding than her previous straight Telugu films. However, navigating these challenges alongside versatile co-stars like Adivi Sesh and Anurag Kashyap made the experience highly memorable. She was also particularly impressed by the Hollywood-style visual execution brought to life by director Shanil Deo and his dedicated technical crew.

At its core, she describes the narrative as a very different kind of love story, driven by the intriguing reasons behind the lead characters turning into dacoits. Backed by a mind-blowing musical album featuring chartbusters, she is confident this unique attempt will thoroughly entertain the viewers in theaters, on 10th April. Supriya Yarlagadda and Suneil Narang are producing the film with Annapurna Studios presenting it.
