Samantha after a long gap joined hands with her close friend Nandini Reddy for an action film, Maa Inti Bangaram. Raj Nidimoru, her husband produced the film with her and the movie released with a good hype, today. Let's discuss about the film in detail.
Plot:
Swarna (Samantha) comes for the first time to her paternal village with her husband Anirudh (Diganth), after they elope. Her husband's family is big and they good common people. She wants to impress them and hence, emotionally blackmails her friend Kiranmayi (Manjusha) to help her. She wants to overpower Anasuya (Sreemukhi), the younger daughter-in-law as elder one.
On the other hand, her violent past in the form of Karuna (Gulshan Devaiah) hunts her. Karuna is a criminal and he trained Swarna as Jhansi to yield weapons. She requests Karuna to leave her alone and let her lead her life. But he tries to use every possible way to make her life a living hell. Why is he obsessed with her? What does Anirudh and his family react to Swarna's past? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Samantha is good in her role and very athletic in action sequences. She is able to handle an innocent girl filled with fears and an assassin shades of the character well. Her performance is a highlight of the movie. Manjusha as Kiranmayi is impressive and all others did their roles recently.
The main motive behind the story is not every woman needs to excel in household chores and such expectations should not be the norm. But the narrative is not highly reflective of this undercurrent message. It tries to balance everything and hence, feels slightly predictable.
Still, the fun elements, action and Samantha's performance keeps audiences hooked to an extent. If not for the leading lady, the movie would have lost all its might and ended up as a forgettable fare. She balances all emotions in a perfect manner and carries the film on her able shoulders.
Music by Santhosh Narayanan, production values and visuals are good. Editing could have been better but the overall flow is energetic, grounded and simple yet effective. Overall, Samantha carries this film with her screen presence.
Positives:
Samantha's performance
Manjusha as Kiranmayi
Music and BGM by Santhosh Narayanan
Production Values
Action sequences
Negatives:
Predictable Screenplay
Slow Narrative
Impact of Climax is slightly diluted with editing
Bottomline: Samantha's One Woman Show
Rating: 2.75/5
