Updated : Jun 17, 2026

The India Story has entered controversy weeks before release after the makers reportedly received a legal notice over the film’s “slow poison” narrative linked to Indian farming and chemical usage.

Starring Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal, the film has been promoted as a socio-national drama that looks at food adulteration, pesticide misuse and their impact on public health. he teaser campaign positioned the issue as a larger systemic concern rather than an individual story.

The objection reportedly questions whether the messaging paints Indian agriculture too broadly through its promotional material. That has now shifted attention from the film’s subject to how such themes are communicated before release.

Issue-based films often begin their debate outside theatres and The India Story seems to have entered that phase already. Scheduled for July 24 release, the film is now generating attention not just for its content but also for the conversation surrounding it.
