Updated : Jan 3, 2026

RaajKamal Films International has officially confirmed the director for their upcoming prestigious project, tentatively titled #Thalaivar173. The film, which stars Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, will be directed by the young and talented filmmaker Cibi Chakaravarthi. This announcement has brought immense excitement to fans who have been eagerly waiting for updates regarding the Superstar’s next cinematic venture.

The project is a landmark collaboration in Indian cinema, as it is produced by legendary actor Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran under the esteemed RaajKamal Films International banner. Bringing together two of the biggest icons of the industry—one as the lead star and the other as the producer—makes this one of the most anticipated films of the decade. Adding to the high-profile technical team is the sensation Anirudh, who has been roped in to compose the musical score for the film.

According to the official statement, the production is scheduled to commence shortly. While the primary cast and crew have been locked, the production house has indicated that further details regarding the supporting cast and technical team will be shared in the coming months. The film is being planned on a grand scale and is officially slated for a festive theatrical release during Pongal 2027.
