The makers of Chiyaan Vikram's period action film "Thangalaan" have announced today its release date. The movie is set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on August 15, marking Independence Day.

The film will be having clash with Double Ismart, AAY, 35 Movie and few other movies in Telugu. Directed by Pa Ranjith, "Thangalaan" is produced by prominent producer KE Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green Films banner in association with Neelam Productions. Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan star as the heroines in "Thangalaan," which is based on real events set against the backdrop of Kolar Gold Fields.
