Home  »  News  »  Censor Helpless over Horror Movie Posters

Updated : Jul 26, 2011

These days we've been struck with grotesque posters and hoardings that are striking on the publicity lines, particularly during the dark. These posters boast of images splashed with blood, intimidating looks, etc but our censor board is least bothered about these pictures. Recently, we've witnessed some movies whose wallpapers and posters are scary and monstrous but are still managing to gain money.

Lawrence starrer Kanchana has struck a chord amongst the masses and the movie's wall posters are plastered around the state. But these posters are posing a bizarre look and are sending wrong signals to the society.

Sometime back Charmi's Mangala movie was released and the posters were repellent and dreadful. But if you ask Mangala movie director and producer Tulasi Ram about this discomfort amongst the public, he says, “its important for the public to know that the movie's genre is horror”. Alright! Then what is censor board doing on this? One of the Censor Board members says that the board cannot do anything on the movie's publicity since it has no control over it. Censor can only put curtail the movie (on-screen) if the movie is beyond the acceptable standards. At the most, censor can give A certificate or  put a word to the publicists to sober down wee bit.

Anushka's Arundhati and Panchakshari were no exception. The movie's publicist followed the same protocol by pasting rebarbative posters across. To these type of filmmakers, its the poster that draws the attention of the public but they damn spare a thought for the passers-by and kids. Wish censor would even have control over the wall posters and hoardings!

So guys what do you say! Do you think the censor board should have control over this? I say YES!
