Home  »  News  »  Can Kanguva really withstand the pre-release hype?

Updated : Nov 11, 2024

Kanguva starring Suriya, Disha Patani, Bobby Deol has been hyping up the pre-historic flashback portions in the film for over a year. Now, they have decided to unveil present day portions as well in the release trailer. They did hint at Karthi's cameo and if the second part is going to be made, Karthi will be seen in prominent antagonist role.

But the film's team has been talking about pre-historic portions for long time and now, they seem to be showcasing how there is present day story connected to pre-historic period. For those fans and movie-lovers who thought Kanguva to be a folklore film like Baahubali series, this does come across as a shock.

The story mostly seems to be following Magadheera example in balancing present and past portions. Had they been more clear about this aspect in promotional material from the first day, it would have set perfect expectations for everyone. But this last minute revelation could kill some enthusiasm among fans who could be expecting completely unique folklore experience in theatres.

Even with hinting at Karthi's cameo as an antagonist in the last minute, the filmmakers did needed to balance out the fact that there will be present day and past portions rather than making it seem like complete pre-historic folklore. So, the movie could receive some initial backlash from few corners regarding this aspect bringing down the hype. Let's see if the content from director Siva overcome such mixed bag campaign.
