Kamal Haasan's Indian 3 is reportedly targeting a Summer 2027 release, averting a potential Pongal clash with Rajinikanth's Dharman. The two biggies were expected to compete during the festive season, but the latest industry reports suggest that Shankar wants to complete the VFX work before finalising the release date.
Apparently, Shankar has decided to give up his pending remuneration balance after understanding the financial issues faced by producer Lyca Productions. However, the director has reportedly insisted that the makers should not compromise on the VFX and production design, ensuring that the film meets the technical standards he envisioned.

With the VFX work yet to be completed, the team is said to be focusing on getting the film ready rather than rushing it for a festive release. Shankar reportedly wants the visual effects and production design to be of the highest quality, to avoid the bad name he received during Indian 2 and Game Changer.
Lyca Productions have been looking to somehow finish Indian 3 and release the film in theatres over two years. Currently, they have Inji Vellam directed by Mani Ratnam with Vijay Sethupathi also aiming for Pongal release. Many thought Lyca will be conflicted between Mani Ratnam and Shankar but even that issue has been averted, if the reports are true.
