After building a strong market among Telugu audiences with back-to-back successful releases in the Telugu states, Tamil actor-director Pradeep Ranganathan now appears to be preparing for his first straight Telugu film. Industry reports suggest that the young star is in discussions to headline a project to be directed by filmmaker Chandrasekhar Yeleti.

What makes the reported development interesting is the contrast in styles. Pradeep has become popular for his youthful energy, humour and contemporary storytelling, while Yeleti has built a reputation for crafting intelligent, concept-driven films such as Aithe, Anukokunda Oka Roju, Sahasam and Manamantha.

According to circulating reports, the project is being planned as an action thriller and could be backed by Mythri Movie Makers. If materialised, the film is expected to be mounted as a bilingual venture targeting both Telugu and Tamil markets. However, an official confirmation from the production house or the team is still awaited.

The timing also makes the speculation noteworthy. Pradeep’s popularity has expanded beyond Tamil cinema following the performance of films like Love Today, Dragon and Dude, turning him into one of the most watched young actors in the South market.

If the project goes on floors, it would mark Yeleti’s return with a fresh-age leading man and also open a new phase in Pradeep Ranganathan’s career with a direct entry into Telugu cinema. For now, all eyes are on whether this unusual but exciting combination becomes official.
