Is Suriya's Karuppu looking to compete with Dhurandhar 2?

Suriya starrer Karuppu being directed by RJ Balaji has been struggling with financial issues even though movie is 95% complete. A song and few scenes needs to be shot and the makers are planning to complete the shoot in January. Now, the makers are planning to release on 19th March 2026.
Already, the movie has been facing huge troubles with low asking price from OTT platforms which makers are not happy with. Suriya has been facing huge downtime in his career, so he is expecting Karuppu to be his major comeback at the box office. Meanwhile, he moved on to his next Suriya46 with Venky Atluri.
Sithara Entertainments is producing the film and Mamitha Baiju is playing a leading role in it. The makers have wrapped up shoot completely and they have started post-production works locking May date. Hence, Karuppu cannot go for a further date than Atluri's film.
Meanwhile, Jithu Madhavan's cop film with Suriya will complete shoot by May and the actor, who is producing it himself, doesn't want to take it to 2027, unless works are pending or slowed down it seems.
So, Karuppu makers need to lock March date and so, despite competition with Dhurandhar and Yash's Toxic, they might for the date, say sources. With Dhurandhar being such a massive hit, Part-2 will shatter all box office records in opening weekend for sure. Going against it would be a suicide but makers have no choice, it seems. Let's wait for official confirmation.
