Himesh Reshammiya’s nasal style of singing, the cap that is so much a part of him and even the way he holds up the microphone has been the subject of many discussions. Love him or hate him, you can’t ignore him.Himesh Reshammiya was born on 23rd July 1973 in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India. His father is Vipin Reshammiya, a music director and his mother is Madhu. He lost his older brother when he was eleven.He studied at the Hill Grange School in Mumbai. When he was sixteen, he started working in a production house.Himesh is married to Komalika with whom he has a son Satyam.In 2006 Himesh, in response to criticism, said that Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mukesh and R D Burman all had a nasal voice and they never had the same number of hits as he had which did not go down well with Asha Bhonsle. He later apologized for his comments. The same year he was in trouble over some income tax issues related to a concert in Surat.He used a song that was composed for Boney Kapoor’s Milenge Milenge in his own movie Aap Ka Suroor that resulted in a copyright violation, which was later resolved.Himesh worked as a music director alongside Anand Raj Anand for Bandhan (1998) and composed the title track of Pyaar Kiya Tho Darna Kya (1998).He worked as a music director for movies like Tere Naam (2003), Aitraaz (2004), Humraaz (2002), Julie (2004), Banaras – A Mystic Love Story (2006), Aksar (2006), Ashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Namaste London (2007), Welcome (2007) and Dasavatharam (2008).Himesh is also a playback singer. He won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award for Aashiq Banaya Aapne. He released a music album Aap Ka Suroor.He has worked on the background music for movies like Kurukshetra, Tere Naam and Taarzan – The Wonder Car.He is a mentor and judge on the music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 and was the winning mentor on the show in 2007.He has plans to start a music school in four Indian metros called Himesh Reshammiya School of Music.In 2006, Himesh Reshammiya made a special appearance in Tom, Dick and Harry. He starred in Aap Ka Suroor – The Real Love Story in 2007 that was an average success. Karzzz (2008) a remake of Karz was panned by critics and the audience.Pooja Bhatt’s Kajraare with Himesh Reshammiya and Divya Khosla in lead roles will be released in 2009. Ye Hai Himesh Bhai is another movie he is working on, to be released in 2010.
