A major theft recently shocked Tiger Baby Digital LLP, the production company founded by acclaimed filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, who produced Gully Boy, Talaash, and many others. The incident came to light after office staff noticed that several hard drives had mysteriously disappeared from the company premises, triggering serious concern within the industry due to the highly sensitive content stored on them.
According to reports, 66 out of 119 hard disks from the company’s inventory were stolen. These weren’t ordinary storage devices — each drive reportedly carried between 16TB and 72TB of data, including unreleased footage, edited material, and important project files linked to shows and films like Made in Heaven and Ghost Stories.
Thankfully, the situation did not turn into a creative disaster for the production house. Confirming the incident, Zoya Akhtar revealed that backup copies of all the stolen data had already been secured. This ensured that none of the company’s ongoing or completed work was permanently lost.
Investigations later uncovered that the theft was an inside job. Acting on a police complaint, authorities arrested two individuals connected to the company. During questioning, the accused reportedly admitted that they had been secretly smuggling the hard drives out of the office over several months before selling them in the grey market for just ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 each.
