Sunny Leone and Rahul Dev’s upcoming horror comedy Chudail has landed in a rights dispute even as the film gears up for its theatrical release. Producer and distributor Ganesh Jain has issued a public notice claiming exclusive rights over the film’s digital, television and allied rights, raising questions over the ownership and exploitation of the project.
The public notice reportedly asserts Jain’s claim over the relevant rights and cautions parties against dealing with them without his consent. The development comes at a time when Chudail is being positioned as a pan-India horror comedy and is expected to release across multiple languages.

Directed by TLV Prasad, the film stars Sunny Leone, Rahul Dev and Mandana Karimi. Sunny plays a supernatural character in the film, which combines horror, comedy and music. The project was extensively shot in Uttar Pradesh and marks Sunny’s return to the horror space after Ragini MMS 2.
The rights issue could now become an important factor in the film’s release and subsequent digital and television plans. The makers had earlier indicated plans for a theatrical release towards the end of September, with dubbed versions in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam also being planned.
