Swanand Kirkire is set to reunite with Akshay Kumar for Samuk, several years after their association with Pad Man. The actor and writer is reportedly joining the cast of Akshay’s upcoming sci-fi survival thriller, directed by Kanishk Varma and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.

Kirkire and Akshay have previously shared an association through Pad Man, for which Kirkire was part of the writing team. Akshay also presented Kirkire’s acclaimed film Chumbak. This time, however, the two are expected to share screen space, with Kirkire said to have an important role in Samuk. Details about his character are currently being kept under wraps.

The film brings Akshay and Vipul Shah together again after 13 years. The two have previously collaborated on films including Aankhen, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng. Samuk takes their latest collaboration into unfamiliar territory, revolving around an alien threat and a fight for survival.

Rukmini Maitra, Vineet Kumar Singh and Rajat Kapoor are also part of the cast. The film has Hollywood creature-effects specialist Alec Gillis, known for his work on the Alien and Predator franchises, designing its central creature, while British action director Luke Tumber is overseeing the action. Produced by Sunshine Pictures and co-produced by Aashin A. Shah, Samuk is currently being shot in London and is being planned as a theatrical release in 2027.
