Did Devi Sri Prasad target Sukumar too at the Pushpa 2 event?
Updated : Nov 25, 2024
Rockstar Composer Devi Sri Prasad has expressed his displeasure over Mythri Movie Makers, the producers of Pushpa 2 at the song launch event in Chennai. He stated that he knows that they love him but they have more complaints about him than love. He remarked that they keep complaining that he is delaying everything.
While the comments looked like he is targeting the producers, it seems like he is targeting Sukumar more than them. Sukumar has been collaborating with him from his first film, Arya and Pushpa has been their biggest film in terms of success and fame. But the film seems to have drawn a wedge between such thick and close friends.
There have been reports about Sukumar and Allu Arjun, the lead actor, clashing about delay in the shoot. Finally, they are pushing themselves to release the film by 5th December. In the meanwhile, Devi Sri Prasad has been replaced by S Thaman for composing background score, that too, after DSP composed 90% of first half BGM.
Allegedly, Pushpa 2 team have expressed unhappiness over DSP delaying scoring for the second half of the film. DSP got busy in final mixing works of Kanguva, who requested him to work during the final mixing before the release on 10th November. During this time, Pushpa 2 makers wanted him work for their second half, too.
But as the composer asked them to give him the final edit to compose the score, Sukumar did not find his answer amusing it seems. So, he asked the makers to find other composers to complete the work on time. On the other hand, Sukumar is busy shooting and he did not complete the final edit works of second half yet.
So, will the film release for 5th December or not has become a huge concern for producers as distributors and exhibitors have been pressuring them. Pushpa The Rise works have also been delayed till last minute but then producers did not have such huge Pan-India plans but now, they for Pushpa 2 The Rise, they are under tremendous pressure. With more than Rs.600-650 crores hanging in balance theatrically, they are under pressure to release the film on time for 5th December.
So, they have even put pressure on Sukumar to complete the edit on time for sending copies to every nook and corner in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada languages. The dubbing works have to be completed for other language copies and even subtitle works have to be completed for Overseas copies.
Pushpa 2 final edit is important for overseas censorship and Indian censorship to be completed before 4th December by hook or crook. Hence, the pressure is severely high on the makers. While DSP understood this to give them NOC for approaching other composers, he is visibly hurt by their actions. Seems like he even targeted Sukumar for not standing besides him strongly, even though they have been friends for over two decades and co-workers for so long.
He stated that they have to ask to get what they want and can't just rely on anyone. Still, Allu Arjun praised both Sukumar and Devi Sri Prasad on the stage as the most important people for his career.
We have to wait and see, how Sukumar will react to the words of DSP in coming days as the director has Ram Charan's 17th film up next in his kitty and will Devi Sri Prasad work with him or not. As Mythri Movie Makers will be producing that film too, we have to wait and see, DSP will continue to work with them or not!
