Amazon Prime has acquired the OTT rights of director Mani Ratnam's much awaited film Ponniyin Selvan.

Classic director Mani Ratnam is directing Kalki's historical novel Ponniyin Selvan in two parts. Mani Ratnam has teamed up with Lyca Productions to produce on behalf of his Madras Talkies. Ravi Varman is handling the cinematography and AR Rahman has composed the music for the film. 

The film stars Jayam Ravi as Rajaraja Chola, Karthi as Vandiyadhevan, Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Aishwarya Rai as Nandini and Trisha as Kundavi Devi. Also the appearance photos of the actors have been released recently and have been well received.

The first part of the film is set to release on September 30.

In this case, Amazon Prime has acquired the digital rights of Ponniyini Selvan. 
According to sources, Amazon prime paid a whooping amount of Rs.125 crores for both parts combined.
