AR Murugadoss has become a crazy Pan-India director with his blockbusters like Ghajini, Thuppakki, Kaththi and he is struggling at the box office, currently. He joined hands with hot favorite Sivakarthikeyan for Madharaasi. Can the big director make a blockbuster comeback with this highly anticipated film? Let's discuss about the movie in detail.

Plot:
Raghu (Sivakarthikeyan) decides to commit suicide but he is saved and sent along side a NIA officer (Biju Menon), who is severely injured, in the ambulance. Raghu starts telling his story and asks NIA officer to kill him. As a huge consignment of a Guns is about to be distributed by Virat (Vidyut Jamwal) and Chirag (Shabeer), NIA officer decides to use him for a suicidal mission. Raghu says he would like to die as a person his Malathi (Rukmini Vasanth) likes. Why does he want to die? Why Malathi walked away? What is the mission? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:
Sivakarthikeyan is good in the role and in axtin sequences he delivered his best. The agile choreography and flexibility in his body enhance the action sequences. Rukmini Vasanth is good in the role but writing for her character is undermining.

Biju Menon, Vidyut Jamwal, Shabeer Kallarakkal did their characters well but again their characters seem too monotone and generic. The mission and important message about gun culture doesn't really resonate properly through the lethargic writing.

Murugadoss seems to have been rehashing his ideas in this film as it feels like Ghajini meets Thuppakki. None of the scenes really stand-out and every emotion feels repetitive. Even if they are his strengths, he seem to be fixated in several popular templates and concepts which he is not willing to come out from.

Action choreography wise and technicially movie presents the story strongly but writing again undermines. Surprisingly, Anirudh Ravichader is also ineffective in creating the required excitement. Overall, movie feels like a lost opportunity as an in-form Murugadoss would have delivered much better film.

Bottomline:
Technically strong but writing wise lacks spark.

Rating: 2.5/5
