Preview: Akhil's Chances Are 50-50
Updated : Nov 10, 2015
Going by the talk in film circles and the buzz developed overseas, release numbers of debuting star Akhil Akkineni's "Akhil" are high, but the craze curve is on the two sides.
This is the story in publicity for now: Directed by VV Vinayak, the film deals with the story of a guy (Akhil) who settle abroad and what happens when he falls in love with his heroine (Sayesha Saigal). Chemistry between the lead couple is awesome, while Akhil's dances and fights are strong points. However the comedy with Vennela Kishore, Saptagiri and others in first half has turned out to be sour. Coming to second half, Akhil encounters tribal people who are in need of their missing God statue, 'The Jua', which is being chased by two groups. To one group, heroine's family is connected. While the story and setup look routine, it's Vinayak's conceiving of scenes that are stunning.
Anup Rubens scored good songs, for which Akhil came up with fantastic dancing. On the other hand, Mani Sharma's background score is kick-ass, while Kona Venkat's dialogues are regular. The chances of this movie are 50-50 for now, as we have to see how far a handsome guy will be accepted as a mass hero, and how a routine story will click.
