Teja Sajja has decided to bring different genre films to Telugu Cinema after his Zombie Reddy success. With HanuMan becoming a Pan-India blockbuster, he turned into a Superhero and now, as Super Yodha with Mirai. The movie also marks comeback of Manchu Manoj as an antagonist after a long gap. Karthik Gattamneni after a huge disaster like Eagle, promised to not repeat same mistakes and deliver a cinematic marvel for audiences. Let's discuss about the movie in detail.

Plot:

Ambika (Shriya Saran), at her Ambika Ashram in Himalayas, foresees the future and understands that Emperor Asoka's nine books that carry elements related to super-powers are being targeted by an evil force. While she is a pregnant, with the determination to save humankind, she treks Himalayas to meet Agasthya Mahamuni (Jayaram) and he tells her that her son will be the Yodha, who can stop the evil on the rise. She decides to sacrifice herself and let her son be directed by stars as per his fate.

24 years later, from Ambika Ashram, Vibha (Ritika Nayak) starts her journey to find Vedha Prajapati (Teja Sajja), son of Ambika, to fulfil his destiny. Vedha travels from Kashi to Hyderabad, in the meanwhile, and becomes a first copy seller. He always intends to do good and even when steals, he does for good purpose. Vibha tries to ignite the goodness in him and put him on right path. Mahabir Lama (Manchu Manoj) keeps growing stronger and gets hold of 8 books. Can Vedha stop him? What is Mirai? Why Vedha needs to become a Super Yodha to use it? What is Asoka's intention in dividing his powers into nine books? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis :

Teja Sajja is improving as an actor with each film and he emoted much better in emotional scenes from his previous films in Mirai. He is believable in fights and while wielding a super weapon as well. His hard work in pulling difficult stunts is commendable. He needs to slightly improve in his dialogue diction at several places. Still, he did his best in bringing this character to life.

Ritika Nayak is good and she did justice to her role. Shriya Saran forms the emotional cog of the film and she did deliver her best. Manchu Manoj packs a punch as Black Sword or Mahabir Lama. His screen presence is striking and he is menacing in the film. His presence has elevated many scenes and he balanced his emotional high and lows perfectly for this role. Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram are good but their characters did not get any stand out moments.

Karthik Gattamneni tried to equate Emperor Asoka to Godly being which slightly went off the track but his intention to showcase a fantasy film connected with Indian Mythology needs to be appreciated. He learnt from his mistakes in Eagle and kept the narrative engaging for most part of it. He should have worked much more on the climax, as it lacks impact and felt rushed.

When such a superhero battle has been hyped up and when it ends so simply, it lacks impact. The action sequences have been handled well except for few sequences where random cuts and too many shots have been used. Still, the action choreography is sleek and apt. The emotional highs that the narrative tries to deliver towards the end seem to be packed heavy and screenplay could have benefitted with few relaxations in between.

The journey of Super Yodha to become one has been ignored and it feels he has been given Yodha status by birth but he did not earn it. Such things should have been bettered at scripting level. Some fantasical elements slightly go overboard asking audiences to completely forget the logic even within the film. Makers should have addressed them too. VFX is good but at places it could have been much better. On the whole, Mirai could have been better but delivers an engaging experience.

TeluguOne Perspective :

Mirai is engaging superhero film with cliched themes and rushed climax.
