Lumbini Laserium reopens on New Year day

Four months after a deadly terrorist strike, the Laserium reopened on January 1 at 6 pm. The Buddha Purnima Project Authority (BPPA) claims that it has made foolproof security, as it does not want to risk lives of innocent citizens.

“In the backdrop of the August 25 blast, four closed   circuit televisions (CCTVs) have been installed at the Laserium. Five ex-servicemen have been appointed as security officers. In addition to them, another 10 private security personnel have been deputed at Laserium,” said BPPA officer on special duty (OSD) P Chandramohan Reddy.

Four doorframe metal detectors (DFMDs) have been installed at the entrance gate of the Laserium. Simultaneously, four hand-held metal detectors would also be used to scan visitors, he said.

A cloakroom has also been set up at the entrance of the main gate to store luggage and bags as tiffin boxes, plastic bags and briefcases have been banned inside the entertainment centre. However, mobile phones and handbags would be allowed, he said. “Every movement will be monitored by dedicated staff at a control room set up at the BPPA office,” he added.
