Chocolate day falls on 9th of February, which is third day of valentine week. After proposing to your valentine, it is the time to eat something sweet. So you might wonder what is the connection between valentine and chocolate. Chocolate has been referred to as “the food of the gods” since the time of the Aztec Indians and as Chocolate was introduced to the Western world by the Spaniards after they discovered it when they set foot in Chile The first chocolate candies (as we know them today) were invented in the 1860s by Cadbury, who was also the first to market them in a heart-shaped box for Valentine’s Day that same decade.

Why Chocolates Day for Valentines? A gift of chocolate is flattering and can be interpreted in the culturally approved way as a sign of love and respect given by the dependent person. Many don't know that chocolate is an aphrodisiac. It contains an endorphin called phenylethylamine, levels of which in the brain have been linked to falling in love. Chocolate has been used as a gift since the days of the Aztecs, who believed it to be a source of spiritual wisdom, energy and higher libido.

Understanding this, it is not surprising that women have always been the buyers of chocolates and that the companies have targeted their sales pitches surrounding this "new" gift-giving holiday on women. It also suggests why there was such initial cultural confusion over whom to give these sweet gifts to. Chocolate is clearly the province of women, so it makes sense that the men should buy it and gift it to the ladies.

On Valentine’s Day a box of handmade chocolates or the ones that you get in the market clearly indicates the Love one has for his/her beloved. Receiving a nicely covered box of chocolates causes a sense of anticipation. And to renew your ties with your loved ones a chocolate seals the deal as most of the women love chocolates and this is something which they never get bored of.

Happy Chocolate day Guys!!
