Jubilant Telanganites Celebrate in Detroit at DTC gathering

 

 

 

The day that every Telanganite was eagerly waiting for the past 60 years has arrived and Telanganites in Detroit were sure to celebrate it in a big way. Over 300 Jubilant Telanganites gathered in Detroit to celebrate the historic occasion of the declaration of Telangana state by the Indian Government. Detroit Telangana Community, an organization of Telanganites in Detroit, which has been active in the past several years in organizing Telangana events, has organized these celebrations to mark this golden moment in the history of Telangana.



People from near and far, started pouring in huge numbers at Novi, Mirchi Banquet Hall on Friday, August 2. The crowd was ecstatic and the atmosphere was festive. The event was started by a welcome address by Ramgopal Uppula – who presided the proceedings for the night. A two minute silence to pay homage to the Telangana martyrs. Viksheetha and Vikyathi pallerla enthralled the audience with their singing of “Jaya Jaya he Telangana” song.  Later Bharath Madadi chairman of DTC spoke about the origins of DTC and the activities it has taken up so far. DTC President Nagendar Aytha addressed the gathering and has appealed to the audience to make the coming Bathukamma celebrations a big success. Hari Maroju has spoken about the history and journey of the Telangana movement over the past 60 years. He has thanked Prof. Jayashankar profusely, for his immense contributions of a lifetime for the cause of Telangana.  Sai Vaishnavi charged up the crowd with an emotional “Jai bolo Telangana” song. Many from the audience spoke briefly and shared their feelings. It was a day of relief and rejoice for everyone at the gathering as they exchanged greetings and emotions.



T-JAC Chairman Prof. Kodandaram has addressed the gathering over the phone. In his address he conveyed his wishes and told that we need to follow through the process and get a bill passed in the parliament. He was confident that the Telangana movement is so strong that it will see the process through. He urged the NRIs to take an active part in rebuilding Telangana.



T-JAC Co-Chairman, Sri Mallepally Laxmaiah and Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) women’s wing State president Smt. Tula Uma also addressed the gathering over phone.




The DTC board members Bharath Madadi, Nagender Aytha, Venkat Manthena, Ramgopal Uppula, Bhujanga Rao, Shailendra Sanam, Hari Parankusham, Kashi Kotha, Raju Brahmandabheri, Thiru Venganti, Sunil Marri, Venkat Devara, Sreedhar Bandaru and Murali Bommanaveni, Vijay Bhaskar Pallerla and Srinivas Raju put in valuable efforts in making this meeting a huge success.
