IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla resigns

IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla has resigned to his post on Saturday evening in wake of spot fixing and betting charges that pops-up during the recently concluded IPL matches.

He said, considering BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale and Treasurer Ajay Shirke’s resignations, he too is resigning in the best interest of Indian cricket.

Sanjay has told the media that he is quitting because of Board president N. Srinivasan’s stubborn attitude against the demand for his resignation.

Therefore, Rajiv Shukla’s resignation, just one day in advance of emergency meeting of the working committee in Chennai, will put immense pressure on the committee members to ask for N.Srinivasan’s resignation too.

However, Shukla has stated that the jam-packed stadiums have proved that there is no effect of the betting and spot fixing on the IPL matches. He said he did his job as the chairman of IPL to near perfection.

He said “I have never hankered for any position in the BCCI until now and will serve cricket in whatever role I am given."
