President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday conferred the Padma Awards, the highest civilian awards of the country, to 66 personalities at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Andhra Pradesh had 9 people being awarded the prestigious Padma awards presented by the Union Government for their distinct contribution in their chosen fields.

Andhra Pradesh’s badminton player-turned-coach Pullela Gopichand has been awarded the esteemed Padma Bhushan award for his contribution to sports along with Late Dr Anumolu Ramakrishna for his work the field of Science and Engineering

Mohammad Ali Baig, Art for Theatre
Dr Rama Rao Anumolu for Social Work
Dr Malapaka Yajneswara Satyanarayana Prasad in the field of Science and Engineering
Dr Govindan Sundararajan in the field of Science and Engineering,
Ravi Kumar Narra from the Trade and Industry
Dr Sarbeswar Sahariah for his contribution to Medicinal Surgery
and
Prof Kolakaluri Enoch for Literature and Education
