Indian prisoners in Italian Jails

Indian government has let the Italian Katrochi, who is wanted in Bofors scam. Then, few months ago it lets the two French nations to go off its hook, who were caught while spying on Indian soil. Recently, it gave a send-off two Italian marines, who killed two Indian fisher men in Indian territorial waters near Kerala.

All of they were indulged in serious offences that attracts severe punishments. Yet, the UPA government intentionally let them go off its hook due to many known and some unknown reasons. Still, it is trying to bluff the people stating that it leaves no stone unturned to bring them all back to book. But, the past experiences underline that it is a matter of past and what ever UPA is saying now is an attempt to overcome the criticism, it is facing from the opposition parties and people of the country.

While, the Indian government is giving a 'warm send-off to its accused-foreign-guests', Italian government has thrown as many as 109 Indians, who are mainly agricultural labor illegally migrated into the country from Punjab and other places in India. Majority of them were either being cheated by the brokers or came under influence of some cheaters who promised them of having a great life once enters into Italy.

This was revealed by none other than External Minister Salman Kurshid in his reply given to a question raised by opposition parties in parliament. He also said that his government has no details about how many Indians were jailed and their present status. He blames Italian government and his counterparts for not responding to his appeals seeking information about the arrests. However, he said they have been in jail for the last two years and not sure when they will be released.

All this indicates the indifference between Indian and foreign prisoners. If, they are Indians no one is there to hear them. If they are white skinned then the entire world including India is there to stand by them.
