Universal star Kamal Hassan directed and acted high budget movie ‘Viswaroopam’ that is scheduled to release on January 10th on the small screens through DTH subscription, and 11th on the big screens seems postponed. Film distributors in Tamilnadu have warned him that if he goes ahead with his plans of releasing the movie on small screens one day prior to its release in theaters, they will not allow screening of his film in theaters.
Hence, they had a meeting with Kamal Hassan at his home until late night yesterday, where they have come up with two alternative suggestions. The first one comes from film distributors, who suggest releasing the film in theaters as per the schedule and two weeks after on the small screens. Kamal proposed simultaneous release of the film on both small and big screens on the same day, for which refused.
However, according to reports Kamal is ready to hold back his idea to ensure timely release of his film and to avert financial losses to the producer, who is said to be made the film with Rs.160 crores budget. Now, the ball is Kamal Hassan’s court and distributors are awaiting his decision, hopefully for a positive one.
