SIT formed to investigate spurious liquor deaths case

 

AP state government takes the spurious liquor deaths case very seriously. DGP JV Ramudu has constituted an eight member Special Investigating Team (SIT) led by DIG of police Mahesh Chandra Laddha to investigate the deaths and spurious liquor case.

 

Greyhounds SP Senthil Kumar, DSP T Kanaka Raju, DSP of SC and ST Cell of East Godavari district M Venkateswara Rao, Circle Inspectors of Guntur range K Srinivasa Rao and K Abdul Karim, Circle Inspector of Jaggaiahpeta Y V Naidu, Sub-Inspector of Guntur Urban CH. Rambabu, Sub-Inspector of Lalpeta Guntur Meera Saheb are in this team. Commissioner of Police D Gawtham Sawang will supervise the progress of their investigation.

 

DGP Ramudu said Vijayawada Police booked a case against nine persons including Congress party Vijayawada city president Malladi Vishnu under Sections 37 (A) (I) (II) of AP Prohibition and Excise Act and 204 and 328 of IPC. Police have arrested Swarna Bar and Restaurant’s staff members and seized the bar. Police teams are searching for Malladi Vishnu, who is absconding from them soon after the news broke about police added his name in the accused.

 

B. Sarat Chandra, K. Purna Chandra Sarma, M. Lakshmi Saraswati and M. Balatirupa Sundaramma are license holders of the bar. Their whereabouts are also not known. PCC President Raghuveera Reddy, who initially backs Malladi Vishnu, is unable to support him now as police found Malladi Vishnu is also partner of Swarna Bar and Restaurant.
