Hurdles for Vijayawada Metro even before starting?

 

People are seeing how the politicians and their parties are creating hurdles for the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, with which the construction costs are escalating with each passing day. Now, the upcoming metro rail project in Vijayawada is also facing similar problems, even before the work starts. Some local businessmen and leaders of ruling party are reportedly insisting for change in design of the metro project.

 

A MP and two MLAs are said to be insisting for change of railway station locations in the Patamata to Poranki stretch. Some businessmen are stressing for change in design of metro rail plan on Mahatma Gandhi Road stretch. They are suggesting the metro line be shifted to Bandar canal bund which is 500 meters away from Pundit Nehru Bus station of the original route plan. A person in Poranki, whose land comes under this project, is also insisting for change in plan. Few others belong to opposition parties are also reportedly reservations on the original metro rail plan.

 

Already estimations were submitted for construction of this metro project and the state government reportedly forwarded it to Central government for approvals. Construction works of this project are expected to start any time before June next year. But, they may be delayed and the construction cost also may escalate because of these demands for change in design and delay.
