Crisis in Uttarkhand Assembly

After the Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh was toppled down by the rebels, now another state seems to stand in the queue. The Harish Rawat government in Uttarkhand found itself in soup, after 9 members from the ruling congress have opted themselves to join the BJP. These 9 members could certainly change the statistics in the 71 seat assembly. If congress looses 9 out of its 36 members to BJP, then BJP would emerge as the strongest party with 37 members. These 9 congress members along with the BJP legislators have left for Delhi last night, to hatch a new government. But Chief Minister Harish Rawat maintained that he had majority in the House. He is even confident that some of the rebel MLA’s were ready to come back. Meanwhile the state BJP is getting ready to form a new government with the support of rebels. Even if that won’t happen, the party leaders said that they are ready for fresh elections!
