Sushil Kumar Shinde Takes Charge as Home Minister

Sushil Kumar Shinde on Wednesday took charge as the Union Home Minister. He was holding Power Ministrry till now and the same has been entrusted to Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily as additional charge.

P Chidambaram, who was Home Minister for the past three and a half year has been brought back as Finance Minister, the portfolio he was holding earlier. Since all the three ministers being shuffled are serving cabinet ministers, there is no need to for them to be sworn-in again. The shuffling is necessiated because of Pranab Mukherjee's resignation as finance minister to contest the Presidential elections.

Meanwhile, Congress MPs hailing from Telangana region had a meeting with the new home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and power minister Veerappa Moily a shortwhile ago. After the meeting, the MPs said that it was just a courtsey call and nothing more.
