Visakhapatnam and Kakinada to be smart cities

The wait is over! Urban development minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu has released the list of 20 cities to be turned into smart cities. Along with the cities like Bhubaneswar, Pune and Jaipur… Vizag and Kakinada from Andhra have also found place in the list. The centre would spend a staggering amount of over 50,000 crores on these cities in the next five years to develop them. Every amenity like the water and power supply, infrastructure, IT connectivity would be provided in these smart cities. The centre has chosen these 20 cities from the list of 97 cities submitted by the states. The smart city plan is a part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda to develop 100 smart cities in the near future. However no city from Telangana has found a place in the list. But, that is not going to be the end of the plan as the government is going to announce 80 more smart cities in the coming years. The cities of Hyderbad and Warangal may likely find a place in the forthcoming list.
