Coming as a unexpected shocker to the people of Kolkata, an under construction bridge has collapsed in Girish Park area of North Kolkata.

- The Bridge is located at BaraBazar which is one of the densely populated placed in Kolkata.

- More than 100 people were believed to be trapped beneath the debris, and few of them were feared to be dead.

- Army has joined the rescue operations to clear the debris. people rescued were immediately sent to the Calcutta Medical Hospital.

- Local people have said that concrete was added to the flyover last night, and the bridge was already shaking during such procedure.

- Opposition have been blaming the government over the situation. According to them, corruption has been the main cause for the collapse.

- Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has rushed to Kolkata after hearing the news.
