Thomas Ross from Florida, is suing Apple claiming Apple stole his idea when it released the iPhone nine years ago. He is demanding damages of no less than $11 billion and another $10 billion in restitution, as well as at least 1.5 percent of Apple's worldwide gross sales going forward "as a reasonable royalty". Included in the lawsuit filing are drawings of Ross’s original patent. Ross claims Apple’s own reproductions “are substantially the same as his technical drawings of the ERD, and that Apple's three-dimensional derivative devices like iPhone, iPod, iPad, embody the non-functional aesthetic look and feel”. There is no official statement from the iPhone manufacturer as yet.
