Line Clear for IIM-Visakhapatnam

 

 

The Modi government has cleared files for construction of six IIM institutes during cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. One out of it is IIM Visakhapatnam. Union Minister for Human Resources Development Smriti Irani has laid foundation stone for it at Ghambheeram village in the outskirts of Visakhapatnam in January this year.

 

Modi cabinet has cleared the files for setting up these premium institutes one each at Bodh Gaya in Bihar, Sirmor in Himachal Pradesh, Nagpur in Maharashtra, Sambalpur in Odessa and Amritsar in Punjab States.

 

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the media, “Classes will be started in all these six institutes from this academic year itself in the temporary campus to be identified by the respective state governments. Initially, each of these institutes will admit 140 students. We will start construction of permanent campuses for all six IIMs simultaneously very soon as the finance ministry gave clearance for it.”

 

Andhra Pradesh state government has allotted a temporary campus to IIM Visakhapatnam in Andhra University. Classes will be conducted from August this year in this temporary campus. IIM Bengaluru is assigned as the mentor institute to the IIM-Visakhapatnam.
