Hyderabad first in list of hypertensive men

 

According to a latest survey by union health ministry reveals that more Hyderabad men are suffering from 'very high hypertension' (VHH) when compared to their counterparts in other major metropolitan cities.

 

The data, collated from the ministry's recently released National Family Health Survey-4 (2015-16), shows that 4.5% Hyderabad men suffer from what is known as `very high hypertension (VHH). In contrast, only 3% men in Chennai, 0.5% men in KolkataPatna, 0.1% men in Goa, 0.7% men in Bengaluru and 1.1% men in Deh radun are found afflicated by VHH.

 

In the case of women, Hyderabad stood third in the all three categories of hypertension with 12.3% of women categorised as hypertensive, next to Kolkata's 12.5% and Mumbai's 12.5%.
