Happy Feet

One of the most neglected parts of the body both by men and women are the feet. These pair of natural shoes walk, run skip, and jump apart from bearing your gait and weight, but don’t get the actual care they deserve. They are prone to bad smell, cracked heels, ingrown toe nails and calluses which need proper treatment and care.

It’s time to pamper those feet and set a regime to keep them happy.

Washing

A routine which was a part of our daily life since school should be continues into adulthood too. Wash your feet after coming home from work or outside every day. Dry with a towel and in between the toes.

Scrubbing

Exfoliate your feet once a week to remove the dead skin on the heel and toes. You could use the scrubs available in the market or make one at home using sea salt and sugar and an oil like coconut, olive or almond oil for smooth and supple feet.

Moisturising

Rub in a moisturiser which contains cocoa butter as a night routine. This should be done irrespective whether it’s summer or winter. You get good creams with Vitamin E and aloe vera in the markets  which work as excellent moisturizers.

Cracked Heels

For those with cracked feet, it’s important to clean your feet and apply a good medicated cream in the cracks. This should be done in the night and after you apply it wear socks so that it doesn’t spread on the bed.

Ingrown toe nails

These are extremely painful and have to be treated with care. You can check with your salonist and they will carefully cut the nail straight and prevent it from growing inwards. This is a periodic process till it stops bothering you.

Calluses

Calluses form because of dry skin or too much friction on one area of the skin. You need to periodically scrub your feet with a good scrub and pumice stone to remove the dead skin. After the scrubbing it is important to apply a good foot cream for moisturizing.

Corns

Corns are formed due to a buildup of dead skin with a hard center core that develops on or between your toes due to repeated friction or pressure. It is best to buy medication which contain salicylic acid for corn removal from the pharmacy or do what the physician suggests if it is too hard to remove.

Comfortable shoes

Buy the right shoe that fits right. Not too tight and not too loose so that you don’t end up with ingrown toe nails or corns or blisters and sore feet. Avoid stilettos and hard footwear. And for the men, buy soft cotton socks for better sweat absorption and fresh feet.

Pedicure

Now this is the best part.Invest in a good pedicure at least once every month. This way you can relax and have someone do the job of cleaning your feet .This can also be done at home using a small tub of warm soapy water and scrubber/pumice stone  to scour away the feet.

You could also try other treatments like foot reflexology, hot stone therapy and other exotic treatments for the spa experience!
