Rail Minister Dinesh Trivedi has not Resigned

Dinesh Trivedi said that he had come to Parliament as a minister to answer questions on the Railway Budget.

 

This even as the Trinamool Congress MPs have staged a sit-in outside Parliament demanding rollback of increase in rail fares and a special package for West Bengal. There appears to be no early end to the confrontation between Dinesh Trivedi and his party with Trinamool Congress already announcing its new nominee for the post of railway minister. Meanwhile, the crisis within the UPA resonated both in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha with opposition members demanding clarity on the row over status of Dinesh Trivedi.



Arun Jaitley said the row in the UPA was a theatre of the absurd. Leading the charge in the Lok Sabha, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said the government should clarify the status of railway minister and the Railway Budget. Dinesh Trivedi has said that he has not yet resigned from the Cabinet and is still the Union railway minister.
