Clarification sought for re-registration of number plates

A petition filed by one Rammohan Chowdary, a resident of Hyderabad, challenging the GO issued by the government on July 17, where it asked all vehicle owners in the state of Telangana to change their number plates from the AP to TS through a process of re-registration. The petition which came up for hearing at the High Court on Monday at a Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar who had given one day’s time for the Government of Telangana to clarify as to what authority the government has and from was it mentioned in legal statues   in asking the car owners to go for re-registration and  explain about adding the letters TS in their labels, in place of their existing AP.
This re-registration process has led to a lot of confusion among the citizens as it would mean undue delay and harassment in registration of the vehicles again. Looking at the limitations in which the Road transport officials operate in , it would be more feasible if the new vehicles be registered with the TS name and the existing vehicles  be left as they are. Meanwhile the Bench has reserved the matter for hearing on Tuesday.
